Dear Experts,

During order entry the user enters the batch number in VA01.

Can the user change the batch number directly in VL01N.

Presently the User is changing the Batch number in VA02.

Can you guys share your knowledge on this.

Best Regards,

Dear Ramki,

As the business to make the batch determination inactive in sales order level (as from your issue it is evident that those batches specified in the sales order are seldom available during delivery) and make it active in delivery only.

You can enter batch in the sales order. Batch determination also takes place in Deliveries.

You should choose batch determination in deliveries, if

u2022 You are dealing with materials that are constantly available (mass production)

u2022 You want to minimize capital lockup

u2022 The expiration date, or the remaining shelf life are the most important criteria

u2022 Batch splits are necessary

If batches have already been specified in the sales order, they are copied to the delivery, and cannot be changed there. Contrary to deliveries, batch splits are not possible for sales orders (as opposed to delivery).

You use batch determination for the sales order to find batches for set specifications. You can also reserve batches, if a customer, for instance, requires a material with certain set specifications.
