SAP Webdispacther behaviour

Hello,

We are using SAP Webdispacther for balancing the load between CRM application Servers via Enterprise Portal. However it does not seem to be balancing right.

We have gone through all the SAP notes specific to this and not able to identify any problems.

Findings:

1) Uneven load balancing

2) SAP Webdispacther is getting shut down with x no.of user load. here x is not a constant..

3) SAP Webdispacther is hanging after sometime

4) Within SAP CRM Applications, it is balancing well and performance of the CRM application is very good

5) have set all the profile parameters as per SAP recommendation

We have upgraded the latest SAP Webdispacther 7.20 (released recently)which is released recently as ealrier Webdispacther had some other issues..

Meantime, SAP development team is working on it , however would like to know anyone has any expert idea on SAP Webdispacther and its behaviour

There is one SAP note# 1629748 which clearly tells the same symptom which we receive (relased last month), however we are already in the same latest kernel patch as mentioned.

Regards, Krishna Moorthy

Hello

Make sure the following entries are correct, you just have to enter the following data in the profile file:

Port, on which the HTTP(s) requests are to be received (parameter icm/server_port_<xx>)

Host and HTTP port of the SAP message server (parameter rdisp/mshost and parameter ms/http_port)

The SAP Web dispatcher is only useful in the Web environment. In the classic SAP system, load is balanced by the message server.

The SAP Web dispatcher forwards only incoming HTTP(S) requests to the Web application server and the response is then returned to the client.

Outgoing requests (such as requests to a different SAP Web Application Server) are not sent via the SAP Web dispatcher. They are sent via the proxy server for the appropriate intranet.

Hello Krishna,

Can you please clarify your landscape? For example:

End users --> Web Dispatcher --> Portal --> CRM

Please also inform how many instances do the Portal and CRM systems have.

And is there any 3rd party load balancer involved? If yes, please also mention it at the landscape details.

Thanks!

Isaias
