Delete Unused Configuration

Hi All,

We are working on identifying unused custom configuration and deleting it.

e-g Sales organazation and sales order types, item cat etc which were created in Z* and not used.

Is there any tool to find the unused configuration?

Is it ok to delete the sales organzation or sales document even it has old transactional data?

Does it affect anything say archiving or reportin?

Is there any SAP best practice on it.

Any inputs will be welcome.

There are no specific tools. But inorder to find the unused sales org/sales order etc, you can go to table VBAK and check which all sales org/sales order type has an entry.

Those without entries will be the unused ones.

If it has old transactional data, it is not advisable to delete the sales org/sales document type.

Does it affect anything say archiving or reportin?

No.. Since we are deleting the unused sales org/sales document type, it wont be having any transactional data (that is why we call it unused right? ) and hence there will be no data to be archived. Also it wont be appearing anywhere in current reports also.
