Hi All,

I am Installing ECC6.0 EHP5 in SLES 11.0 SP1 and Database as IBM DB2.

I am getting error in the 6th phase of 47.The Error Log is as follows:Sapinst.log

An error occured and the user decided to stop.\n Current step "|NW_ABAP_OneHost|ind|ind|ind|ind|0|0|NW_Onehost_System|ind|ind|ind|ind|1|0|NW_CreateDBandLoad|ind|ind|ind|ind|10|0|NW_CreateDB|ind|ind|ind|ind|0|0|NW_DB6_DB|ind|ind|ind|ind|1|0|NW_DB6_DB2SoftwareInstall|ind|ind|ind|ind|1|0|InstallDB2Software".

And the db2setup.log is as follows:

Error in execvpS(/sapdump/db2rdbms/LINUXX86_64/ESE/disk1/db2setup errno: 13, error text: Permission denied

I gave the permissions from Chmod command.

Kindly suggest.

Thanks & Regards

What permissions did you "give"?

Hi,

I'm facing exactly the same issue when installing IDES+EhP5 on SLES11 and DB2 9.7!.

Do we need to change the permission manually from command line?

If yes, that's to me looks strange as SAPinst tool should take care of that! Isn't it?!

Here is the current directory permission:

drwxr-xr-x 6 root root 4096 Oct 9 20:52 db2

-rw-rr 1 root root 5293 Nov 3 2010 db2_deinstall

-rw-rr 1 root root 5163 Nov 3 2010 db2_install

-rw-rr 1 root root 5340 Nov 3 2010 db2ckupgrade

-rw-rr 1 root root 5127 Nov 3 2010 db2ls

-rw-rr 1 root root 5145 Nov 3 2010 db2prereqcheck

-rw-rr 1 root root 5145 Nov 3 2010 db2setup

drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 Oct 9 20:52 doc

-rw-rr 1 root root 5181 Nov 3 2010 installFixPack

You don't have any 'executable' permission for these yet. Assign 777 to all of these shown above. Specially the 'db2setup', you seems to be stuck on this one.

Thanks

Thanks for your reply ...

I will try that and post back my findings here ...

However, I'm just wondering why do I have to do that manually? Shouldn't the installer tool take care of that? especially that the installer runs with root privileges.

Hello,

It might happen sometimes, for e.g. when parent to parent directories are not with full permissions etc. This is what my opinion on this one. Same has happened to me as well but not always (which is the sticky part) !

Thanks

Hi,

After executing CHMOD 777 for db2setup and couple of other files, the installation proceeded to the next phases.

Thanks for the help.
