WDJ for external facing applications

Hello,

this is more of a general question:

Is Webdynpro recommended for extranet (internet) applications? To my knowledge it lacks support for certain browsers (google chrome, newer versions of firefox). Is there a SAP recommendation regarding this scenario?

more generally speaking - google chrome for example isn't in the PAM list for 7.3 at all - is it discouraged to expose a WD application to an audience with heterogeneous browsers?
