Oracle upgrade & Patching

Hello friends,

I need to upgrade Oracle from 10.2.0.4.8 to 10.2.0.5.4 on my Prod system, which has:

CI + STby

AS + STby

How can I proceed with it ?

I know how to apply Oracle upgrade and patches on CI + Stby, but what about the application server ?

I think that for AS there is no need to do anything, as the DB is just one for both servers. Am I right ?

I mean,, how will the AS and AS STby will be upgraded ?

System in on AIX.

I think you are right. Application Server doesn't need the upgrade. If your client has decided to go with extended maintenance with 10g then go for 10.2.0.5 otherwise as Orkun mentioned as well - go from 10.2.0.4 to 11g.

Indeed the customer has decided to go to 10.2.0.5.4 from 10.2.0.4.8.

So, no upgrade for the AS, neither AS STBY.

Hi Jordy,

Oracle 10g is in the extended maintenance period. Upgrade to 11g asap.
