NWDI installation Needed software components

Hi,

In order install NWDI , what are the essential components that are needed to be downloaded and install.

Currently our system at ERP 6.0. ABAP + JAVA stack.

Development Infrastructure (DI)

Purpose

Development Infrastructure of SAP NetWeaver provides the environment for

all processes of Java-based development and Java-based software

life-cycle management: In the Change Management Service (CMS), all

phases of development are centrally managed, from the definition of a

central development environment for each software project, to quality

management and production. CMS controls the management of sources in the

Design Time Repository (DTR) and of archives in the Component Build

Service (CBS). The component model adds metadata to Java-based projects,

which is the basis for the new development process.For each IT scenario

that uses SAP NetWeaver Development Infrastructure (NWDI), the following

two Java development scenarios of NWDI define to what extent NWDI is

used:

- Java Projects with Central Source File Storage:

Development with central source code versioning only (that is, only DTR

is used).

- Developing Components with the NWDI:

All services of the Development Infrastructure and SAP#s component model

are used.

Dependencies

DI requires AS Java as a prerequisite in the same system. Although it

can be combined with other usage types in one system, we recommend to

install a separate system with usage type DI.

So the clear recommendation would be to instal a seperate Netweaver

system with usage type DI.

What my question is can we install NWDI on ERP 6.0. ?

Hello

You cannot install NWDI in an existing ERP. This cannot be put as an addon to your existing box. This has to be a separate installation either as NW JAVA stack or NW ABAP + JAVA stack if required along with your required components.

One more clarification, In earlier installation , as an add-on installation, i have done uninstalling my java component and then installed java along with DI by chosing in the intallation components . It was installed successfully.

Hi Srikanth

You would have lost your old system though the SID remains the same. So it's nothing but a new installation.

Ya, Of course , what i would like to know that will NWDI will work successfully by doing this. Any other software components are needed to install in addition

What i observed in master guide is that only Java stack is essential before install NWDI

Ofcourse that will work. I have seen the same setup in one of our support projects and they still use that.
