changing the ECC talking to the PI system

Hi

We have done our testing on a PI QA system which was talking to a SAP system EXD ......now the users want to do the testing on the same PI QA system with another SAP system EXR.....what should we do ???

Option 1 - create new transport target and then transport the new ID objects ...in this case I will ahve 2 ID objects for each...one for EXD and one for EXR ....also i will have to manually fill the comm channel details which is a big task again

Option 2 - do not make any change to the current ID and just change the technical system pointing to the business system EXDCLNT200.....let it point to technical system EXR and client 300 .....

which of the above 2 options do u suggest?

Hema

easiest option will be to get the sap system into SLD.

then go and change the TS reference of the BS of the earlier SAP system to use the TS of the new SAP system.

thus you will need not do anything in ID. once you have your destinations etc reconfigured, testing can proceed.

the above solution is with the assumption that you dont need to test two sap systems in parallel

Hi Hema,

if you are not going to test both scenarios simultaneously, then go for option 1.

If not, go for option2. Even in this option, you have to give the rfc destiunations, user ids and passwords of the EXR system in the receiver XI adapter, RFC adapter or IDOC adapter (Whichever you are using).

Hema,

From you post it is not clear enought who is the sender and receiver in the PI scenario? (Please ellaborat).

If this is an ECC system recieving the message then I suggest you define the new system (Technicalbusiness systemChannels+IDX (If Idoc are used) and using the receiver determination split the message to the new target system as well.

This will send the source message to 2 target systems simultaneously.

Before transporting to Production remove the second system (becasue it will have no target system in the SLD )
