Respected Gurus,
We have SAP ECC 6.0 installed on AIX 5.3 OS with Oracle 10g as Database.
We were taking Whole Database Online+Redo log Backup on daily basis through LTO Tape Drive. Now our LTO tape drive got defective, so either we have to replace it or repair it.
Please suggest any alternate way to take backup which is recommended by SAP. I mean can we take backup on any "Disk Drive" or on any other Computer?
Thanks & Regards
Ahsan
Yes, you can have your backups on disk too. Use a temporary location of the server (As a temporary solution) till the time your LTO HW issue gets resolved.
For parameter changes and mount options - Have a look at Backup configuration guides/notes

Hi Nick,
Thanks for your prompt response.
Here I would like to ask you that, can I mount an "External Harddisk" on our AIX Server and then take backup.
What Backup option should I opt, so that backup will be fully consistent and is this kind of backup is recommended by SAP ?
Thanks in Advance
Regards
Ahsan
