Error: NSP/DVEBMGS00 [ABAP: UNKNOWN] did not start after 10:10. Giving up

Hi!

So I manage to get past my initial problems. Now the installation ran for a long time, but then I encountered a new problem when the installation came to the "START INSTANCE" point:

An error occurred while processing option SAP NetWeaver 7.0 including Enhancement Package 2 > SAP Application Server ABAP > MaxDB > Central System > Central System( Last error reported by the step :ABAP processes of instance NSP/DVEBMGS00 [ABAP: UNKNOWN] did not start after 10:10 minutes. Giving up.)

What does "ABAP: UNKNOWN" mean??? Any ideas why I couldt not start? Is it possible to "force start" it or manually? (e.g. like in Windows services)

Dear All,

The main problem is that you should increase your page file size which can be adjusted through your computer performans settings.

Just follow my informations:

1- Click right to My Computer

2- Properties->Advanced System Settings

3- in Performance sub-task -> Settings -> Advanced

4- in Virtual Memory sub-task -> Change page file size to minimum 10240 and maximum 20480 as can be seen in the picture below.

5-Then click OK and restart your session.

in conclusion, problem solved.

I can only recommend to use the same values for Initial and Maximum Size of the pagefile.

Not doing so may still result in memory allocation errors.

Microsoft's pagefile extend algorithm is working slower than you may request memory.

As a result you still may face memory allocation errors even the configured maximum size of the pagefile has not been reached.

This is valid for all operating system versions (up to Windows Server 2012/Windows 😎

Hi All,

I have the same issue during SAP SOL. MAN. 7.1 installation.

Increasing the recommended SWAP size for a particular installation has resolved the issue

I'm experiencing the same error while installing SAP Standalone option.. my installation is at phase 27 of  36 (Running Phase : starting Instance), I have 10GB swap space with 8GB RAM under VM (Oracle Linux). in my case SAP is connected to the the oracle database... R3check/R3trans -xd returns 000 no error.

Thanks to you, Eray. I did have the same problem. I tried to install SAP NetWeaver 7.02 64 bit and faced same problem, i.e. error on step 21 of 24, "Start Instance". It worked when i changed the swap space!

i allocated more memory and the services is able to be started!

Note : I found the files dev_disp and dev_w0 at /usr/sap/ENH/DVEBMGS00/work. 

Even though the above error is raising after somany time I tried "RE-TRY" option

In my case, installing Solution Manager 7.1 SR1 on Windows 2008 R2 (64 bit), the only thing I did was logging in with <SID>ADM, instead of the local administrator account. That solved it.

And the r3trans executable should be existing under the folder C:\usr\sap\NSP\DVEBMGS00\exe.

Try logging in with user <sid>adm and execute the command Orkun mentioned.
