Equipment mandatory in IW31

Hi gurus,

we have an issue in transaction IW31 - Service Order creation.

When first entering IW31 Equipment field is mandatory which is not a requirement in our process for our service order type. Then, what happens is that leaving screen and entering again IW31 the field is not showing as mandatory any more.

We have checked customizing settings for field selection and equipment is not set as mandatory in any option.

Would you think of any reason why equipment field is being set as mandatory in IW31 when first entering? and then second time...it is not?

Thanks Mehul for your quick response.

We have checked that equipment (CAUFVD-EQUNR) is set as "input" in customizing for "Field Selection for Order Header Data and Reference Object".

It is only in the selection screen that when first entering IW31 requested fields as mandatory are "Order Type" and "Equipment". Then once leaving and re-entering again IW31 for our order type it is not set as mandatory anymore.

Victor,

If this is the case then probably your system might be at fault,

If you dont require equipment completely then you can try with other options at Tcode: OIAN

i.e. Display or hide mode for equipment field.

After that try putting it back to Input mode. Or keep on other option itself.

Hello Victor,

Please check the following path once:

IMG>Plant Maintenance and Customer Service> Maintenance and Service Processing --> Maintenance and Service Orders --> Define Field Selection for Order Header data --> Field Selection for Order Header data and Reference Object.

Check what is given for Equipment field name CAUFVD-EQUNR. If it is marked as "Req" then make it "Input".
