Retrofit Strategy

Hi,

I´m placing a Retrofit landscape where the system which will recieve the requests have the Support Package 3 levels higher than the source system. Face on this scenario I´m in doubt if is it mandatory have the same Support Package Level between the systems involved in the retrofit. I appreciate any information or opinion.
