NwSapAutoWorkstationUpdate Service is Causing Update Problem 7.20 patch 6

I am running into this problem with SAP Installation Server 7.20 Patch

6 which has had the Auto Update turned OFF. I have turned it back ON

on the server and am re-enabling it on the front end, which is also

7.20 Patch 6. Front end client installs were done several months ago and

were perfect without errors. At that time the Installation Server was

set to have Auto Update Disabled.

I am now executing the following to re-install the auto update on the front end:

[installServer]\setup\nwsapsetup.exe /update /product=SAPWUS /NoDlg

This will work most of the time. However I am finding on systems where

user has recently started or may have left OPEN the SAP Logon

application that the update STOPS when having a problem deleting

NwSapAutoWorkstationUpdateService.exe

You can clearly see this in file Nwsapsetup.log line 1381. The update

process then appears to abruptly end.

I want to REPEAT ... this does not happen on ALL front ends. I have re-

enabled many systems to start using the Install Server Auto Update

feature. I am trying to address these few failures which all have the

same abrupt end in NwSapsetup.log all when trying to delete the file.

Also latest SapSetup_Patch.exe for NwSapSetup has been applied.

I have been told by SAP support to apply latest SapSetup_patch.exe from note: 1587566.

Will do so and monitor.
