Annual inventory is counting inventory (all bins, types of warehouse) on a specific date in the year.
cycle count is counting inventory based on ABC classification. it can be multiple times of the year.
so can a warehouse or storage type be counted using annually and also cycle counted multiple times per yr?
in wm config I see inventory method as ST and cycle count check box checked..
why do i need to select ST? if i am able to do cycle count then automatically I can do anually also?
i was in an impression that if a warehouse is set to anually countd then you cannot use cycle count.. am i wrong? i am confused, plz clarify
Hi Swathi,
not clear what is your question.
You may count with the cycle counting even if your storage type is set to annual inventory.
The difference will be the ability to select the required quants to count.
If you are doing a cycle counting you should let the system lead the choice of the bins to count. If you are running an annual inventory you want to count everything or, at least, the bins you haven't count yet in the current year.
Let me know if you have further questions.

that is up to you... in some countries an annual stock taking is mandatory by legal authorities.
Also, there are companies that prepare themselves for the highpeak season with an annual inventory despite the cycle countings...
If you trust the cycle counting and you don't need the annual counting, then yes, it's no point in doing it.
