Upgrade process on DR server

Dear all,

We have DR set up for our ECC production system. we want toupgrade from 4.6c to ECC 6.0. Could you please explain the process for this upgrade?

Specific question here is do we need to upgrade SAP and DB on both primary and DR site?

Hi Murali,

I recommend the steps, below;

1) Stop DR site before the upgrade

2) Perform the upgrade process at the primary site

3) At the end of the upgrade, take a backup of your new system and restore to the standby

4) Apply the offline redolog gaps, open DR site and start the log shipment.

Don't forget to copy new kernel to the standby site

Database is another issue. If you are planning to upgrade DB, make database versions same with the patch levels at the both sides, before the SAP upgrade.

Hi Murali,

Is Oracle the DB in your landscape ?

There are a lot of threads/discussions for Oracle upgrade on Primary/standy site.

And for SAP application upgrade, I never came across this kind of project but I think application upgrade is to be done only on Primary server. Rest I would wait for our other colleagues to suggest.
