Multiple content server information on Enterprise Portal

Hi,

We have successfully mapped sap km and dms using the business package.

We can access the dmsrm folder in Enterprise portal where our DMS documents are getting displayed.

We dont have any content server set up.Documents are getting saved in DMS_C1_ST.

In case of multiple content servers how the data from different servers will get displayed.

Is data from different content servers reside in the same dmsrm folder or different dms repositories need to be created and configured for each and every content server.

Regards

Praveen

Hi Praveen,

By default, DMS_C1_ST category is mapped to SAP database. In case, if you configure the content servers and map to the category DMS_C1_ST, the documents will be stored in the specified content server.

Whenever, you check-in the documents in SAP DMS, you refer the content category. The documents get stored in content server or SAP database to which the content category refers.

Cheers

Hi Amit,

I am aware of saving documents in different content servers. I am concerned on how this data gets displayed in the Enterperise portal when dealing with multiple content servers?

Rgrds,

Praveen.

Hi Praveen,

The portal will just act as wrapper to display the data. The documents will still be dispalyed from the respective content server or SAP database table of SAP DMS.

Hope this answers your query.

Hi Amit,

Thanks for your quick response.

In Enterprise portal ,We have configured the dmsrm repository manager by assgining DMS_C1_ST as storage category.

In case of multiple content servers how the storage category is defined. If only one content server exits we assign that storage category name in place of DMS_C1_ST.But if there are more than one content server how do we assign their storage category names.

Hi Praveen,

I have not done portal configuration for SAP DMS. But as per the link below, you can assign multiple SAP DMS repository managers which can refer to separate content servers.

Wait for other expert comments if they can answer your query.
