For those that do not have the luxury or re-building OS,

I think the solution would have been to take ownership of the file system with the account you are doing the install with. I believe that would solve the problem as I have had similar problem and taking ownership of the file system was the solution for me.

The problem here was that they were installing as the Administrator, strange problems I think.

Hi Martin,

next time before you ask a question here, buy a new PC and start from scratch lol. Anyway, your problem is solved, nothing else matters.

Hi Craig,

definitely, and the PC gets certified on each startup and if you have changed a battery, you have to reinstall everything again

is there any way of setting a file time manually? to test if the user have sufficient rights.

I'm not sure, I've never tried it.

Windows?? Hmmmm if the user can edit the file then they should be able to set a time - logic right?

Hi Martin,

setting a time stamp is basically nothing different (at least under Windows) than changing the content of the file and saving it (which does reset the modification timestamp). So i suggest to try to open the file you mentioned with the corresponding user, change it and try to save.

Hope that helps.

Stefan

Sorry, i forgot to answer first question, I'm installing SAPinst_SP_WAS640.exe

Based on the fact that it can't set time of a file it looks like rights or a file problem but I've no solid expierence with the 640 install.

Sorry.

It's an XP fresh install, I logued in with the administrator account windows XP creates by default.

Do you think it's a user rights problem?

What are you installing?

Do you have full administrator rights on the server during the install?
