PI 7.3: What does it means?

In Integration Engine-based Communication or u201CClassicu201D integration the message is processed by the Integration Engine and normally is converted by the Advanced Adapter Engine.

i think is point to something like this:

sender system>AAE->Integration Engine---> Receiver.

but i dont understand why the AAE should interact with the Integration Engine.

HI RP,

The job of the adapter engine is a) to convert the message format into XML(The only fromat PI can understand) and deal with the differeht transport protocols of the different sender/receving systems.

The job of the integration engine is to execute the pipeline steps and execute colloborations.

So, after the AAe converts the data into xml, it will hand it over to the IE for "mainly" executing the pipeline steps.
