Hi SLcM Team member,

Hereby a short explanation;

1.what does program plan means and where to use it? how to use it?

--> A program plan is a variant that describes the various stages into which a program is divided. An example could be that a program of study consist out of several years, 2 for example. You then create a program plan which you name Bachelor 2-years for example.

2.what is stage and where to use it? how to use it?

--> A program can be divided into segments of study called stages. The stage divides the program of study in different stages which can represent the academic year. The attribute u201Cwith stagesu201D or u201Cstagelessu201D (defined within the program plan) cannot be changed once it is set!

3.what is program pattern and where to use it? how to use it?

--> The program plan you defined together with the stages can be related via a program pattern. For program plans with more than one stage, you must define a sort sequence that determines the display hierarchy in the Program Catalog.

4.what is progress classification and where to use it? how to use it?

The progress classification is used to subdivide your program types according to the promotion process for each program.

You use the the program type progession classification in the progression application. This uses the assigned progress classifications as progression results. The system displays the respective progression result on the Program Type Progression tab page of the student file (piqst00)

You have two diiferent types:

- Program type progression (non-staged programs)

- Program progression by stage completion

Progression (program type based) classifies students based on quantity of work, e.g. total number of credits (e.g. Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior) and is calculated from the academic work used for the program type.

A staged program of study requires the completion of a stage before students can progress to the next stage.

Each stage may set requirements which have to be fulfilled to complete the stage.

5.what is program type and where to use it? how to use it?

The program type categorizes programs in which progression is evaluated concurrently. Hence it is directly related to the progress classification (program type based).

E.g. Bachelor, Master, Graduate, Professional.

You can also use it without progress classification to identify the type of program and for example use this in workflow processes.

Hope this helps.
