Query and universe

Hi all,

can anybody tell me the difference between bex query and universe ? We can able to preapre the Report by using both universe and the bex query but still why we have to go for creation of universe while creating the report in the BO.

Plz explain in detail.

In order to report data using Business Objects reporting tools, we need to create universe on top of the

underlying database. so for creating the reports on BW you need to create universe on top of Bex Queries or infocube.

Ya i know that we have to create the universe on the top .But we can execute the same BO report with the help of BEx query also without creating the universe also. But what is the main difference between report we created with the datasource as BEx query and with the report with datasource as universe.
