External procurement with availability check

Hi

I have the requirement to perform an availability check against an item which is to be purchased.

I plan to populate a dummy plant daily with the stock available at the vendors and then perform an ATP check against this plant if the item category in the sales order via a small development.

My problem is that a schedule line category that is defined for external procurement can not have the availability check also active, when I try to set this I get the message u201CAvailability/requirements check not possible for external procurementu201D

Any help / advice welcome
