Change Password - Authentication failed

Hi,

I am encountering a funny problem in our production (SAP WEBAS 6.40 J2EE). When user try to perform password change (after key in old and new password), the error "authentication failed" appeared, even though the password was actually successfully changed.

This is confusing the user as they thought the password was not changed.

Please help.

When the system prompt user to change the password, and after the user click change (after enter the old password and new password). Immediately, the system automatically try to login with the new password. However, it will failed and showed the error "user authentication failed".

When the user try to key in the user id and password (new password) to login again, it is successful. This mean the password was actually updated successfully.

Please help.

So you mean that the users could change successfully the password and can access the system with the new password but the error message "authentication failed" appears?

How did you change the password?
