Multiple Transport Traget

Hi All,

We have a configuration scenario in PI which currently looks like this

ECC DEV 010 -> PI DEV 001-> Third Party DEV (TPD)

Now in Cycle1 of testing, we changed the Dev to QA. This was done by putting transport target as

EQ1 010->PQ1-> TPQ. Looks good..!!

After this cycle,we would move the ERP to next client/box. So for Cycle2, we would have

EQ1 020 ->PQ1 -> TPQ

and later for cycle 3

EQ1 030 ->PQ1-TPQ

And finally after these testing, it would go to production

EP1->PP1->TPP

Considering this, What would be the best approach.

(1) Delete the ID part in QA & Add the new BS and re configure the scenario with new BS. Disadvantage isthat we are touching QA. Advantage is when the Testing is complete, we need delete all & just transport from DEV and it will be good.

(2) Create Multiple scenario for Each new ECC BS. Run them separately in PI and delete it once done ( may be not) and when time comes to move to PRD, put the transport target in first QA system & move it.

(3) Any other approach??

Please suggest.

Regards

Hi Harry,

I feel best approach will be 2nd one, since you can create multiple scenario for each new business system. Later point of time when your testing is complete you can delete them also (if you want).

This approch will give you more flexibility in transports.

Thanks for the reply. From Options 2, would it be good idea to create 3 scenario in dev & move them via transport ( by putting multiple transport path) or create the ID objects in QA directly.

The problem with the first one is adding into transport the objects which will not go to prod. The later one has issue of creating directly in QA.

Thanks & Please advice.

I like the option 2. Plus create the ID objects in QA directly.

Hi Harry,

I prefer option 2. You can maintain 3 scenarios for your 3 ERP QA systems. Then in SLD business systems, you can point 1 dev to 3 QA as target systems and do the import per cycle. For QA-PRD, you can just select the 1st QA to point to prod ERP.
