Record locking

Hi Experts,

Does anyone know any MDM link which talks about record locking by any user.

If a user logs into Data manager and edits a record and he DID not hit save (Shift + Enter) and left the PC as it is...

which means no one else can edit that record, because user1 is in edit mode(But not actually doing anything..)

Is there any threshold time or some Timout parameter that MDM has when a user Edits a record but not doing anything to that record, and still in edit mode... ..???

Please help me with your Experiences..

Kind Regards

Eva

Hi,

Please check MDS.ini file settings for parameters -

Session Timeout Minutes

Inactive Client Timeout Minutes

Client Ping Timeout Minutes:

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_mdm550/helpdata/en/42/fc006b8adf1a61e10000000a422035/content.htm

If above parameter doesnt work then manually your Administrator can use MDM Console --> Repository --> Admin --> Connections to find the Inactive Data Manager sessions and followup with the user to log off.

Thanks,

Shambhu.

Hello,

The functionality you are asking for can be achieved using Workflow, where we have the option to checkout checkin records, with this the user who modifies the records is checkout for his use and other user who want to modify the record will be prompted for an error.

and for the threshold time we have the functionality in workflows.

Abhishek

Hi Eva,

What exactly are you referring to here?

Records can be protected as well as checkedout.

Suppose a User A modifies a record and then just remians idle after that.

Now the timeperiod he can continue depends on the Workflow design, after which a notification mail is sent to stake holders and the Step/WF expires.

Both the versions of such records can be seen in Data manager by clicking on "All versions"

Thanks,

Ravi
