SAP application server disappeared from SM51

Hello Gurus,

Today there is a system issue where out os two application server, one disappeared from the server group in SM51. They are running on HP-UX 8i OS with Oracle DB. When checked at OS level, system was showing all sap related processes. Checked the system log,database alert file, no relevant error message. There was no network issue. At the restarted the instance to fix the problem. Would like to know the root cause of such behaviour of system. Any help will be appreciated with points

Hi,
Please confirm if the application server that it's not shown on SM51 is an ABAP server or Java server.
Is it up and running? sapcontrol command can be used to monitor instances status:
sapcontrol -nr $$ -function GetSystemInstanceList

Are you sure whether the App.server is really up when you checked in SM51?

after restarting are u able to see it in SM51?

I restarting it and i can't see it on sm51 !

What is the problem?
