Hi,

I am going to cluster installation ERP 6. ehp5 ON win 2008 with DB2. I have few doubts please clarify.

1. Can we use one share drive for database files and sap application ( ASCS,SCS, ERS)?

2. Can we create groups before installation or it will ask while instllation?

Thanks

Siva

Hi Siva,

>> 1. Can we use one share drive for database files and sap application ( ASCS,SCS, ERS)?

It is not recommended to put binaries and database files into the same drive

>> 2. Can we create groups before installation or it will ask while instllation?

You can create the groups before you begin to the installation, but the sapinst will not ask you for the groups

Hi Orkun,

Thanks for your reply,

1. How many groups is required?

2. Is it Possible to assign all the groups to one shared drive?

Thanks

Hi,

>> 1. How many groups is required?

I am not experienced on DB2. At the Oracle side, you need the groups, below;

ORA_<SID>_DBA

ORA_<SID>_OPER

SAP_LocalAdmin

SAP_<SID>_LocalAdmin

SAP_<SID>_GlobalAdmin

Maybe, another tech guy who is experienced on DB2 can give an exact answer to this question.

>> 2. Is it Possible to assign all the groups to one shared drive?

Could you clarify the question please?

We have total 3 drivers

C: For OS

😧 For ( ASCS,CSC, CI)

E: for ERS and Database files ( shared drive)

This configuration si enough for Clustering?

Hi,

I suggest you install with the configuration, below;

C: OS

😧 CI, ERS

E: ASCS

F: Datafiles

I recommended you split datafiles and binaries, because database disk stripe size should be larger than binaries. Technically, ASCS instance should be located at the shared disk resource.

C: OS

😧 CI, ERS

E: ASCS + database file

This configuration is possible to install? because only one shared drive available.

Thanks

Hi,

Technically it works, but please keep in mind my previous words, about stripe size.

Hello,

If were looking for database groups then following need to be created beforehand otherwise SAPinst will create by itself as well. Better to follow SAP installation guide for win/db2 for proper assignment of the users w.r.t groups if you really want to create them before starting installation.

'sid' is the system sid you are going to install.

dbsidadm -DB Administrator Group

dbsidctl -Database control

dbsidmnt -maintenance Group

dbsidmon -monitoring group

DB2ADMINS_SID (extended security group for admins)

DB2USERS_SID (extended security group for users)

Thanks

Hi siva

Before that you have create the cluster group. (In that group you have to assign disk, virtual IP and Name it should resolve in the DNS server). at the time of first node install its will ask you to create the cluster group that time you have to specify the group which has been created manually
