Dear Team,

We have done the oracle upgrade from 10g to 11g in Windows server 2008. We are facing a problem while Creating the Oracle TNSListener Service.

In command promt we exicuted following command

<complete_path_to_new_Oracle_Home>\bin\lsnrctl start

the error message like

"TNS-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error

TNS-00530: Protocol adapter error"

Why we are getting this error.

Please guide us to resolve.

Regards,

Skiruba.

Hi,

the error message like

"TNS-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error

TNS-00530: Protocol adapter error"

Check the following:

1. Environment variables ORACLE_HOME, PATH, TNS_ADMIN points to new Oracle 11g installation directory.

After that,

1. Copy TNSNAMES.ORA, LISTENER.ORA, SQLNET.ORA from OLD Oracle_Home to NEW Oracle_Home at same path.

2. Edit above configuration files and make sure that ORACLE_HOME path points to Oracle 11g installation.

Then try to start LISTENER. It will work.

Hi Skiruba,

Could you provide full trace? Why you are trying to create a new listener service, manually?

The listener TCP port might be allocated by the other application, or you are facing with a security problem on Windows 2008, as usual.
