but import ABAP started from last 6 Hr. but till not a single job completed.
I have already applied SP2 to SQL 2005.

Depending on the memory of the system and the underlying I/O the import can take some time.
Do you use different disks for the database and log area or you have only one disk? What kind of hardisks do you use?

Hi!
we have 4 GB RAM and 20 GB page file.
This is for IDES ECC 6.0 installation.
I have already done same on the 32-bit hardware and window 2003 + SQL 2005 environment it did not take much of time.
But when I have been trying on 64-bit hardware (I5 processor) with window 2003 + SQL 2005 environment it take much of time.
Also when I installed SQL 2005 for 64-bit software installed successfully but patch is not applied successfully
then I had done setting from configuration tool --> SQL server configuration manager --> SQL server native --> Available Network Protocols i disabled shared memory, TCP/IP, Named Pipers (i.e. for 32-bit) then I can apply SP2 to SQL 2005 server. I disable above said because it installed for both 32-bit and 64-bit.
Also, I observed SQL server browser service is disabled by default.
Please suggest any configuration is needed or anything wrong so I can continue with installation.
Thanks
Ganesh
Hi,
Yes, i had started the installation using sql4sap.vbs
Installation successfully done, but at patch apply step it gives error "shared string xxxxx not found "
and patch installation abort, so I manually applying patch by disable the above said.
Second thing, Network protocol installed for both 32 bit and 64-bit also.
Thanks
Ganesh
I have installed multiple dozen systems with SQL Server 2005 and I never had those kind of issues, this is really strange.
I suggest that you open an OSS call and let the support have a look on your system next time this error arises. It's certainly something, that shouldn't happen.
Can't tell you what is wrong without looking on the system.

Dear Markus,
I had again format the machine install fresh OS (windows 64-bit) and
again install SQL 2005 (64-bit) manually, then able to apply SP1 successfully.
But till I face the same problem near about after 8 Hr in import ABAP step only
1 process complete.
on SQL server configuration following nodes are displays
SQL native client config (32 bit)
here shared memory, Named Pipe and TCP/IP are enabled.
and same thing for SQL native client config (64 bit).
so is it correct?
Please suggest ...
Thanks
Ganesh

Which media (number) do you use to install SQL Server? SAP delivers SQL Server with SP3 and a later CU patch.

Do you see activity in the task manager? Is the system doing something? What is the content of the latest log in the installation directory?
Markus

Good!
Since you didn't post any data how many R3load processes you had, how much memory you configured for the database etc. it's impossible to suggest something where to look at. 15 hours on a small system are not uncommon.
