SolMan 7.1 SOLMAN_SETUP Wily Enterprise Manager

Hello,

I just installed SolMan 7.1 and updated to SPS 3.

I've been going through SOLMAN_SETUP and am now I'm on the Enterprise Manager screen in the Basic Settings 3.1 but things don't seem to be right. It says "In this step, you connect existing CA Wily Introscope Enterprise Managers to SAP Solution Manager." I select the button to bring in the installed EM's but there isn't one. The documentation only mentions adding an additional EM, which would indicate that there should already be one existing. Should I have manually installed an EM already? Thereu2019s nothing about it in the SolMan install guide or in SOLMAN_SETUP.

While I was drilling into things to figure this I'm looking if the Diag agent is the correct version; where do you check? I see three different versions:

Which of these is the real version and do I have the correct version installed? I have gone through the Wiki and agent install guide but everything seems to be referring to the agent and the managed system. Should I put the 7.3 Diag Agent on SolMan 7.1? If so how? I actually tried but SAPINST points to the kernel DVD which has the old version. Sigh, Iu2019m so confused.

I don't find the Diag installation guide.

Hi David,

1) You have to install the EM manually in your landscape, you may refer to the ["Wily Setup Guide".|https://websmp205.sap-ag.de/~sapdownload/011000358700001995842008E/SAPISDOC02_0.pdf]

Also, refer to note 797147 and 1483508 to check the correct version to install.

2) The kernel version of the SMDAgent is 720.

The version you see (7.10.3.0.20110823102240) in the agent admin UI is the LM-SERVICE version. The applications for ALL agents in the landscape are updated when the LM-SERVICE is updated.

Thank you so much Allam, I installed EM 8 and am moving on. If any SAP people are watching, it would be helpful to put that in the SolMan install guide to install Wily before starting SOLMAN_SETUP.

I have just a couple follow on questions:

Also, refer to note 797147 and 1483508 to check the correct version to install.

I installed EM version 8. Note 1483508 "Solution Manager 7.1: Root Cause Analysis pre-requisites" says "For compatibilty information between Introscope (Enterprise Manager & Byte Code Agents) and SAP Solution Manager, refer to Introscope 8 Release SAP Note 1273028 or for Introscope 9 Release SAP Note 1565954". This hints that v 9 might be available but 797147 says 8.2 is latest; am I right?

Is the kernel version the one I see in the SAP MMC or the dev_smdagent log?
