Multiple academic scales

Hi,

is it possible to use two academic scales with different passing values? I have two programs of study and students are supposed to clear both of them. The minimum passing value for one program of study is 50% and for other it is 65%.

System generally accepts only one lowest value for the combination CAMPU and SCLFL.

I have defined following scale for my requirement.

A 5 100,000.00 85,000.00 100000.00 ; Pass

B+ 4.5 84,999.00 75,000.00 84999.99 ; Pass

B 4 74,999.00 65,000.00 74999.99 ; Pass

C 3 64,999.00 50,000.00 64999.99 ; Pass

D 2 49,999.00 49999.99 ; Fail

In this case System Scale LL "Lowest Passing Grade" is 50000. To Pass other program of study student has to score more then 65%. How to deal this kind of issue.

Hi,

I belive SLCM allows the usage of multiple scales. If the same grade symbols have different meaning then sometimes two scale with the same grade value but different norm values are used. For example undergraduate get a pass with a grade value of 65 on a 1 to 100 scale while graduates need a 50 on same 1 to 100 scale.

Now the question is how to configure it in system. Do i have to define a Linear Quantity scale or quality scale? What is norm value here?

And if it is Linear Quantity scale what shall be the base values. I used formula to calculate Base value = (NP(SB-SW) + NB(SW-SP)) / SB u2013 SP and found that 42817 and 00000 came out as base values.

Here,

NP=50000

NB=100000

SP=65 and 50

SW=0

SB=100
