We have an SAP system in Oracle 10.2.0.2 and want to install the patch 10.2.0.4.

If we do get a crash in the installation, I can restore the entire database offline full backing of the following file system? :

/ oracle / *

or

/ oracle / "SID" / *

Which is to restore the directory structure would be the database in normal operation after the crash?

Best Regards

Hi Jose,

In order to be safe side, I recommend you take full backup of "/oracle" folder.

Hi Jose,

As you are doing the patch installation below are the files which you need to backup.

Oracle Home - /oracle/SID/102_64

Oracle Inventory - This would be usually under /oracle

You dont need any database backup.Incase something goes wrong you can restore oracle home which means

you will get back 10.2.0.2 version and restore Oracle Inventory.

Ershad Ahmed.

Oracle home and Inventory backup should be fine for this activity (Bundle patch installation is purely related to Oracle application, it never touches your database)

*Suggest to plan your Oracle upgrade from 10G to 11gR2, As 10G is already in chargable (Extended) support
