Error at phase 25 of Solution Manager 7.1

Hello all,

Am installing Solution Manager 7.1 on RHEL 5.0. Database is orage 11g

Iam facing an error at phase 25 i.e.

"An error occurred while processing option SAP Solution Manager 7.1 > SAP Systems > Oracle > Central System > Central System( Last error reported by the step: ABAP processes of instance SM1/DVEBMGS00 ABAP: UNKNOWN did not start after 5:30 minutes. Giving up.)."

The contents of sapinst.log are,

ERROR 2011-09-13 09:19:55.750

CJS-30087 Instance SM1/DVEBMGS00 [ABAP: UNKNOWN] did not stop after 5:10 minutes. Giving up.

Hello,

Error seems not clear from the log, what's the phase name. It seems it is trying to put ABAP stack up but fails.

Could you paste some more logs particular to this phase ? or sapinst_dev.log

On linux, sidadm/root ulimit is ok or not, should be confirmed.

Hello,

1.Am getting this error in START INSTANCE phase.

2.ulimit is unlimited

3. The log from sapinst_dev.log is given below,

Hi,

Usually, this error occur in fresh installation if virtual memory (swap) is configured low.

What is the size of swap partition ? (it should be minimum 20 GB)

Please paste dev_disp, dev_w0 and dev_rd logs from work directory to see exact problem.

Hasan,

please try to find something like "ERR" or "ERROR" in all dev_* files yourself (e.g. using grep). Then you should find the error itself.

It is due to the fact that the system was unable to create users in the home directory..

The issue is solved now.

Hi Rajasree,

The issue is related to shared memory. If you are installing in linux add kernel parameter.

if you installing in windows increase virtual memory parameter and restart and check.
