In cat2, the default is to time write in hours. is it possible to change this to days?

Yes, use a activity type that has a UoM as Day or Work Day in your time sheet.

In activity type master data, KL02. Go to 'output' tab, maintain 'Day' as 'output unit' , maintain the 'factor' like if your UoM is Hrs. So let's say 1 day= 8hrs. so keep output factor as 8.
