master data/PS

Dear Sir/Madam,

This is regarding material master change. we found after change the procurement type from X/50 to E/F/F30, this change is carried on automatically in project. without doing BOM transfer. Master data change should be done in project by BOM transfer. Why master data is changed automatically in project?

Issue raised to SAP, but reply came with saying: For components in PS we do not store the procurement type information and is always read from master. reference: MSFCV_EX-BESK

After material assignment in network activity the material master changes is getting reflected in Project too. Logically it should not happened.

Regards,

Ansar

Your above statement is not clear...

You can attach material in the network (It is not necessary to do BOM transfer), which will bring all the properties of the material master and which is normal (SAP also replied to you the same).

I mean to say, whenever you do bomtransfer or simply attached material in project builder all the setting comes in PS, thats true, but now if you change material master from x/50 to F/30 or change in procurment type or any change, this changes are reflected in PS, which is very strange. It must not get reflected unless untill you again do rebomtransfer or again attached the material in Ps.

example:

Previously it was X/50 that is phantom material this means no reservation will be seen in md04, but as soon as you change the material master to F/30 this results in md04 the reservation are seen in md04. Its very strange. without doing bom transfer how the changes are reflected.

There must be some restriction.

OK, you mean master data changes are effecting earlier transaction data. Normally it wont effect unless it is dynamic (eg.. variant configuration).

There is a chance to change BOM components after MRP re-run.

Can you check if requirement date for component is in future or before change in master data?
