Hi

We are about to start a project in SAP BI BW and reporting in SAP BO.

We have heard about Oracle Exadata which improves performance to large extent.

Also latest HANA is being also introduced in the market.

So we wnat to know about how and when and with which tool we should go for (HANA or Exadat).

As far as I am concern Hana is recently introduced in the market,so going with this would be too early.

And for Exadata,as i have heard it is basically like enhancing the server capabilities and dividing the storage area and calucation engine etc.

So can you help about me about which one should we go for Hana or exadata or nothing.?

And also is there a document which can provide more about hana nand exadata.

Regards

Gaurav Mang

Hello Gaurav,

So can you help about me about which one should we go for Hana or exadata or nothing.?

Nobody here will be able to suggest a solution for you without knowing the environment, load, etc.

But here is some additional information about Oracle Exadata vs SAP HANA:

My personal opionion:

I personally don't rely on statements of presentations - both solutions should be the "killer" on paper. Oracle Exadata is in the market right now and should be perform very well for a various of customers. SAP HANA is the other beast i dont' really believe in. It is a long long way until you can use it in a high critical environment (for OLTP or OLAP) - just think of recovery and HA solutions. The other way is that SAP announced HANA as a affordable solution - but just calculate the list prices and needed memory for a mid range - large SAP system - it is just ridiculous.

If you really think about introducing Oracle Exadata - you might wanna get in contact with Kerry Osborne (http://kerryosborne.oracle-guy.com/) - he is one of the known experts in Oracle Exadata.
