Brtools can't find last full backup after deleting older ones

Hello,

excuse my bad english.

We are using brtools 7.20 (12) on an Solaris (with Zones) environment.

Every Sunday a fullbackup is planed, an incremental one the rest of the week.

We do store on disk. If I delete older fullbackups via brtools, i get an error message after the next planed incremental backup :""Last full database backup (level 0) not found"

Although the newest Fullbackup still exists.

I checked it via dbacockpit and in the logs of the machine. The actual Fullbackup is on disk.

the detail log for the incremental Backup

BR0051I BRBACKUP 7.20 (12)

BR0169I Value 'rman_set' of parameter/option 'disk_copy_cmd' ignored for 'backup_mode/-m incr' - 'rman' assumed

BR0280I BRBACKUP time stamp: 2011-09-07 04.30.29

BR0280I BRBACKUP time stamp: 2011-09-07 04.33.10

BR0292I Execution of BRARCHIVE finished with return code 0

Maybe someone had the same problem and could help me?

Thanks a lot.

Have you tried deleting the backup manually and leaving the .afd file in the sapbackup directory?...

Hello,

i allways delete it with the brtools. But i have a ffd file not an afd. I Thought incremental backups need a ffd Backup?

The latest backup ffd is still there, just checked it.

I'll try to delete it manually by tomorrow, after the next full backup.

I've tried to delete the backup manually , works just fine.

But i just can't find the mistake when i am using Brtools fot the deletion of older Backups.

In sapbackup directory there will also be a file back<SID>.log

Is this file by any chance deleted by Brtools?.

The file backSID.log is still there.

Here I think brbackup is not able to find the last backup status because you might be moved and replaced the latest one and tried for incremental backup.

Just re-execute a full DB backup and then try for incremental, update the status then.

*Just search SDN/Google with the error to find the bug fix (if) before starting a full DB backup

Thanks for the quick answer,

i've already done that before. If I reexecute a new full Backup and start a incrementel one afterwards everything is fine.

But i don't understand why brtools isn't able to find the last one. Do i need to configure anything else?

I need to find a way deleting old full Backups without running into that error message.

We don't store the older backups on tape only on disk.

I've already search for that error message but i could not find an answer.
