Dears
while creating a notification system bring all task in the relevent pop up window...
to controll this which is the better solution
using catalog profile in material master or assigning catalog profile to notification type
Please give advantages and disadvantage for both case
Or we need to use both
Faisal
Dear Faisal,
1.Catalog profile at notification type level
1. If you use this it gets restricted at notification level. For example you have customized a catalog profile which contains catalog as 2 and code group as QM-G2- u201CTasks for vendor complaintu201D. If you assign this profile to notification type Q2, then while creating Q2 notification system will prompt only to choose the task code only from code group QM-G2
2. This would be applicable to all the materials.
3. This methodology should be opted where all the materials have same tasks to be carried out for that perticular notification.
2.Catalog profile at material master level
1. In this case system will allow to choose the codes from only those code groups which you have assigned in that catalog profile.
2. No matter which notification type you are using.
It cannot be predicted which option is better. It all depends upon the requirements that business demands. I personally would prefer option 2 as it has more flexibility and has material wise control.

Hi Faisal,
Your problem is notification-specific. So long as you can identify what will be the different notification types to be used by you in your business, i think it should be much more convenient and logical to restrict by assigning catalog profiles to notification types.
Material master assignment of catalog profiles may be more suitable for EWM scenario. There also default catalog profile may be made instead of the assignment to material master. Please check

Each notification type is assigned a specific catalog profile.
You can also store a catalog profile in the material master. This catalog profile takes precedence over the catalog profile assigned to the notification type.
Also per notificaiton type you can change catalog profile if its assigned @ Notificaion level where as once assigned in a material master it becomes generic irrespective of where & in which notificaion type its going to use.
Also Catalog profile assigned in Material master can be used for both the perpose
1.Notificaions
2.Defet recording.
I hope I have made it clear.

Hi Faisal,
The catalog profile contains the catalog types and code groups that are available for recording defects. You should define different catalog profiles for the different types of materials or products you intend to inspect. The report type determines which catalog profile will be selected for defects recording.
Catalog profile helps you in notification & defect recording. For example if you have assigned catalog profile as Pipes in QM view (Material Master) then it will only show defects related to Pipes only.
Catalog profile defined in the material master will take more priority in the notification at the time of determination of catalog profile for notification, in case catalog profile is defined both for material master and notfication type.
