Hi All,
Waht dowe mean by wave in SAP sourcing like on demand wave 7, on demand wave 8 etc....Is it like SP what we have in SAP ERP
Alos in there any difference betweeen on demand and on premise soultion as far as configurations in concerned.
Thanks Venky
Hi Venky,
SAP is releasing two parallel versions for SAP Sourcing i.e. one for OnDemand and one for On Premises.
SAP Sourcing 5.1, SAP Sourcing 7.0 versions are On premises versions. Next On Premises version expecting in Q1/Q2 2012 is SAP Sourcing 9.0.
Where as Wave 6, Wave 7, Wave 8 versions are On demand versions of the product. Next On demand version is expected Q1/Q2 2012 is Wave 9.
Functionally there no much difference between SAP Sourcing 7.0 and Wave 7 but release cycles are little different between these two types of the systems.
On Demand versions are getting released every 6 to 8 months where as On Premises versions getting released in every 12 to 18 months.
regards,
Venkat

Hi Venky,
As per my understanding, each wave corresponds to a specific version SAP Sourcing OnDemand and corresponds to a specific version of Onpremise. For ex - Wave 7 corresponds to SAP Sourcing 7.0
Also in terms of features as per my discussion with some SAP consultants, there are NO differences between the two versions except the fact that in On Demand SAP will help you fill the On Demand Workbooks and in On Premise you need to fill the workbook on your own.
Hope this helps.

S Tripathi
