Variant Configuration: Unable to change Configuration Profile for a Materia

When I am trying to create a Configurable Material in CU42, I am unable to change the status from Locked to Released. The error msg is:

You cannot release the profile until you assign a class of class type 300

Message no. CU765

Diagnosis

You want to assign released status to the profile. However, this is not allowed until the configurable object has been allocated to a class of class type 300.

System Response

The system found that the configurable object is not allocated to any classes of this class type.

Procedure

Allocate the object to a class.

Hi,

Logistics / Central functions / Variant Configuration / Environment / Classification / Master Data / CL02 Classes.(T-Code CL02)

Enter the required class.

Enter the class type u201C300u201D.

Select the iconu201D Createu201D.

On the view u201Cbasic datau201D specify description and u201Cstatusu201D must be released.

Select the view u201Ccharacteristicsu201D and enter the required characteristics and save it.

In MM01 Select the View Classification and enter the Class Type 300

Check & Revert

Thanks a lot. My problem is solved, but I have a doubt. I actually created a class ZCHOCO with '023' class type (Batch) instead of '300' (variant). In case I need both batch and variant, how do i proceed?
