I have a scenario where, the incoming message to SRM from ECC fails to update the backend number in the SRM central contract. In SXMB_MONI of XI , I am getting chequered flag. This means everything is fine from XI point of view. However, I have not created the Fault Message Type for inbound message. I have to add that the scenario was done by importing the downloaded tpz file. So is it because that I have not created the Fault Message Type that the back end number is not updated in ECC. I am using XI Adapter at the receiver

Have you checked that in the trasaction sxmb_adm, category RUNTIME you should have the parameter ACK_SYSTEM_FAILURE set to value 1?
