Reporting on MDM

Hi,

How do we perform reporting on top of Netweaver MDM - Do we use a business objects universe on top of it?

Has anyone done it?

Hi Tomer,

MDM is not a reporting tool but it can be integrated with BI and other applications to sophesticated reports.

We cannot do reporting on top of SAP MDM because MDM donot handle trasaction data. if report are only based on Master data then using SAP Portal / webdynpro you can do some basic reporting but it is not best advisable solution.

Landscape changes based on what is your objective to use MDM. If it is reporting then you can consolidate information related to Master data in MDM, clean / cleanse it and syndicate / send to any reporting tool like SAP BI, BO, informatica to generate accurate reports.

SAP BI and SAP BODS have good integration with MDM.

Hi Tomer Steinberg ,

You can import the data into Excel from Data Manager with req. field but SAP MDM does not have direct reporting tool.

As u said one can use BI,congonos etc...but not sure how it can be done.

There is no reporting functionality provided directly in SAP Netweaver MDM. But you can use SAP MDM Syndication Server/Syndicator to generate excel/text files containing records with different search criteria. This file generation can be automated.

You can also use SAP Enterprise Portal to display MDM Records with a real time search screen on your browser.

If this does not help, then let us know your exact reporting requirement?
