Move Material from Storage Type 922 to warehouse

Hello,

After the usage decision and transfering material from Quality to unrestricted stock in Storage type 922, I want this material to be moved from 922 Storage type to warehouse. I do not want TR to be created Manually. Is there any standard process or user exit which can generate the TR or TO (to move material from 922 to warehouse) after the material is transfered into Unrestricted stock from transaction QA32.

What is the standard process of doing this.

Hi,

Posting change notices get generated once stock is transferred from Quality(Q) to unrestricted. You can view generated Posting change notice using Tcode: LU04 and can create T.O w.r.t PCN.

If you want to create T.O automatically for Posting change notices, need to do relevant setting for Movement type 321.

Make Auto T.O creation indicator for 321 mvt type for warehouse. So system will create T.O once stock is transferred from Quality to unrestricted.

Hope this helps you.

Kris.

Hello Kris,

Your answer seems to be very good and this can solve my purpose.

The real problem lies with the TR that has already been generated at the time of GR. What should be done with that TR. Can the same TR be used to move material from Quality to Unrestricted or do we need to manually close this TR and generate new TO at the time of movement type 321.

Hi,

The TR for the GR will be processed separately. You have two options.

1) You can close out the TR after GR by processing the TO to move the stock into the warehouse. When the PCN is created, it will then look for the quant with the corresponding inspection lot number to post it to unrestricted.

2) You can leave the TR for the GR open. When the PCN is processed, the first line item on the TR is automatically closed (and references the PCN/TO item) and then a new line item is generated on this TR to move the stock from the GR zone into the warehouse.

In both cases where inspection lots are involved, you have to be careful not to cause a quant merge. Only one inspection lot can be stored on a quant so if you merge multiple inspection lot quants together, only the last inspection lot number will be known. This will cause problems downstream when you go to convert the PCN into a TO. The best way to prevent quant merges is to ensure that dynamic bins are used, based on the GR document. Please review also SAP note 389492 which gives further information on this.
