Hi

i have a problem with migrating the SAP database from one harddisk with 250GB to another harddisk with 500GB. Could any one please tell me how to port the SAP database one place to another. I am using IDES ecc6 server. Thanks in advance.

You can simply detach the current database, move/copy the database files and re-attach them again.

Dear Manivannan.

Even, better than detaching the database in order to move it and re-attach it, I would recommend you making sure that you are able to attach it in the target system before; so I would propose to stop the SQL Server services, copy (duplicate) the files to the target drive and then attach those files. This will prevent problems as eg. a corruption that prevents you attaching the DB to any other DB engine.

But this is a minor detail. Basically, follow Markus' reply as it is perfect.

Cheers!!
