Hi,
We have IDES on EhP3.
Note 799639 says that applying enhancement packs to an IDES system is possible.
However, we've faced several issues when upgrading IDES in the past.
Is it really possible to upgrade EhP3 IDES to EhP5 IDES ?
or will we have to install a fresh EhP5 IDES system ?
Thank you
Hi,
As per the note you mentioned, it is 'technically possible' to apply enhancement packages to an IDES system.
However as per experience, during an IDES system update/upgrade - lot of issues crop up due to the IDES data in the system.
If you really need to update EhP3 system, only then you should go ahead with the EhP5 update.
Otherwise would suggest installing ERP EhP5 IDES directly.

Hi,
I think you guys have not read full information. complete extract is:
Enhancement Packages
From the technical point of view Enhancement Packages can be implemented into IDES systems.
BUT: This is only true if the customer is licensed for all AddOns /
components that are implemented in the IDES ERP System.
Because of this "limitation" we recommend to wait for coming IDES versions/releases that already include the EhP's.
(Please note that the current version of IDES ECC 6.0 already includes
EhP4.)
Thanks
Sunny
Hi Sunny,
Yes, you are right mentioning the highlighted statment.
I for one, am against updating, upgrading or sometimes even applying SPs to the ERP IDES system because the data in it can cause the process to be a real pain :). I am merely 'stating' the fact that the technical update is possible (and yes unfortunately I too had the unpleasant experience of updating an IDES system).
SAP does not recommend it and even I am not 'recommending' it..
Regards,
Srikishan
