Solved: ASCS NOT TAKING ANY INSTANCE NUMBER WHILE SAP HA I...

Hi Gurus,

I am facing the issue which is:-

That during installation in Define Parameters step, when I try to put instance number and click next it shows messages as shown below:

You entered the instance number 00 on host SAPPR1-svc for the ASCS instance.

DIAGNOSIS: In the SAP system PRD, an ASCS instance already exists with the instance number 00 on host SAPPRD. SOLUTION: Enter a different instance number.

after changing the instance number when I try again I get same message again

You entered the instance number 01 on host SAPPR1-svc for the ASCS instance.

DIAGNOSIS: In the SAP system PRD, an ASCS instance already exists with the instance number 00 on host SAPPRD. SOLUTION: Enter a different instance number.

here is again changing the same parameter

You entered the instance number 50 on host SAPPR1-svc for the ASCS instance.

DIAGNOSIS: In the SAP system PRD, an ASCS instance already exists with the instance number 00 on host SAPPRD. SOLUTION: Enter a different instance number.

I am unable to identify the problem.

I am doing HA installation of SAP ERP 6.0 SR1 EHP4 Ready with DB2 9.1 on AIX 6.1 with 16 gb ram on both the nodes

EDIT:

The SAP was installed and then uninstalled in the system prior to my coming to the Project. I am not sure that whether it was properly uninstalled.

Check 3600 and 3900 port have been binded?

I solved the error myself by emptying the /tmp/sapinst_instdir.

But I am now facing the following error as per logs which I think may be related to ulimits:

Firstly, be sure that you are able to access the installation files. Could you try to execute the command, below;

"chmod -R 777 /db2/PRD/sapdata4/sapdump_dvd/INST_MASTER"

Secondly, and check the users, under /etc/group

dba -> <sid>adm,ora<sid>

oper -> <sid>adm,ora<sid>

sapsys -> <sid>adm

sapinst -> root

Hi,

To be sure could you check whether the entry exist in your /etc/hosts file;

127.0.0.1               loopback localhost

If it is not exist, could you add this entry and retry the process? Sometimes, it may lead the problem.

And check the freespace on the logical volumes.
