Hi
Can Some tell me as how to make Profit center as manditory Field on WBS Master Data ?
i have tried marking PC as manditory at the below menu Path but setting is not making PC mandatory..
SPRO - PS-Structures _ Operative structure - WBS structure -User inter face settings- Define Field selection for WBS strucutures
Regards,
KB
HI KB,
Under Influencing you set up the field control specific for certain fields and values. So, you could have Influencing field 'Controlling Area' = 0001 and mark PC as required. Then, PC would be required for Controlling Area '0001' but not for other Controlling Areas.
I think this may be where your problem lies.
Influences just list all the field controls that are set up.
If you always want PC to be mandatory, remove any Influences you have created for PC and mark PC as Required on the initial screen.

Brendan

Hi,
The path that you have mentioned is correct. Just check if you have ticked the "Req" radio button and check if there are any influences specified. By the way, are you leaving the profit center blank in the project definition and entering different profit centers for individual WBS's?
Anyway, the setting should work. CHeck and revert.

Gokul

Hi KB.
You may following the right path i.e
SPRO -->Project System -->Structures -->Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) >User Interface Settings>Define Field Selection for Work Breakdown Structures
Make the Profit center "Required" . It is working fine in our case. Just check again and make sure.
there is another alternative also i.e Validation
SPRO -->Project System -->Structures -->Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) >User Interface Settings>Define Field Selection for Work Breakdown Structures>Maintain Validations>
Project System -->WBS element > Click on New Validation> Provide Validation name and discription and details --> Then click on steps and provide following information
*Prerequisite*
PRPS-PRART = 'A' OR PRPS-PRART = 'B' OR
PRPS-PRART = 'C'
Just chek the project type what you defined in the system and replace A, B, C with those.
*Check*
PRPS-PRCTR <> ''
*Message*
Provide the message type, Message no. etc... you may have to take help of ABAPEr.
and after making the validation follow the path below and update the validation name in project profiles
SPRO -->Project System -->Structures -->Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) >WBS User Status>Create Project Profile--> Select Project Profile --> Click on Control Tab --> Go to Validation section --> In the WBS element Select the validation name you created and Tick the Autom. Validation field.
Hope It will be helpful for you

Hi KB,
The IMG path is correct in order to make Profit Center mandatory on the WBS element (transaction OPUK). If you want to make it mandatory in all cases make sure you do not enter any 'Influencing' data.

Hi @Brendan - Yes we have alot influencing Fields Controlling Area, Billling element, Busines area , Plant etc and PC is One among them. i have marked PC as Mandatory in all the Options but what is the difference between INFLUENCING and INFLUENCES TAB - Sorry if i'm asking you the very Basics of PS
@Rupesh- Thanks a Ton for that , The Validation May work but we are not interested in putting a Validations in place where a standard Configuration is possible to put such Restrictions
@ Gokul - Yes we are leaving PC as Blank Field but the Master Data team will input the right PC at the Time of Creating WBS

KB
