New Oracle Home version 10.2.0.5

Hi

Please advise the steps to install 10.2.0.5 in new oracle home.

We have 10.2.0.4 , Yes we can apply 10.2.0.5 patchset to upgrade existing oracle home (10.2.0.4) , but the business prefers to create new oracle home on the same server- Is there a direct install of 10,2.0.5 ?

regards

Satiish

Its just a patch update process, I don't suggest with new Oracle_home for this.

Its just waste of time and efforts......If your management really wants to test the scenario first, then directly go with 11gR2 which is the latest supported version of Oracle by SAP. It helps you better.

Hi Orkun

Thanks for answering

Reason for new oracle home is to try a test run

Accept there is no 10.2.0.5 direct installation , but corect me if i am wrong there is also no direct installation for 10.2.0.4, i guess required would be 10.2.01 and then upgrade directly to 10.2.0.5 please verify

our Business is aware of support but needs to stay for few months before upgrading to 11g

No, direct Oracle 10.2.0.4 installation is exist. Another way is installing Oracle 10g first then patch it with 10.2.0.5

Hi Satish,

It is really unnecesarry to keep 10.2.0.4 home whereas you upgraded to 10.2.0.5

This is the patchset and there's no direct installation for 10.2.0.5. First you should install 10.2.0.4 then, upgrade to 10.2.0.5. You can find the installation instructions in the patch file.

Please note that Oracle 10g extended support phase begins on August 1st, 2011. Because of this, I strong recommend you that to upgrade 11g.

Check the note 1110995 - Extended maintenance for Oracle Version 10.2
