Hello everybody,

We have ERP 2004 (ECC 5.0 SR1) on windows 2003 32 bit + database SQL server 2000

Now, we have plan to upgrade from windows 2003 (32 bit) to windows 2003 (64-bit) + SQL server 2005.

So please suggest Can I use ECC 5.0 SR1 dump to install SAP on above said

windows 2003 64-bit + SQL server 2005.

I gone through SAP installation guide ECC 5.0 SR1, in that only mention

SQL 2000 and ECC 5.0 SR2 SQL server 2000 and 2005 both are mention.

So please suggest can I use ECC 5.0 SR1 dump to install SAP as

per our plan (windows 2003 64-bit + SQL server 2005)

Thanks

Ganesh

and will copying in H:\SAP Dump\Kernel\51030772\K02\NT\IA64

folder and delete the previous one SAPEXE.SAR and SAPEXEDB.SAR.

Our server is x64 base.

Hi Ganesh,

If the Windows is x64 then adjust the x64 folder of the kernel DVD, not 'IA64'.

Similar condition applies to the new kernel download as well, I hope you have downloaded the kernel files sapexe and sapexedb for windows x64.

Thanks

you must use AMD64 folder, not IA64.

Hi!

I have download the Kernel installation dump but I can't find AMD64 folder

media label is MSSQL:AKK:6.40:DVD_KERNEL:SAP Kernel 6.40 MS SQL Server:CD51030771

There is only Ko1 and KO2 folder, In KO1

H:\SAP Dump\Kernel\51030771\K01\NT\I386 folder available

and in KO2

H:\SAP Dump\Kernel\51030771\K02\NT\IA64.

Please suggest, where to copy latest downloaded kernel.

Thanks

Hi Ganesh,

What if we try DVDs '51031282 CD NW04 SR1 6.40 Kernel MSSQL WIN x86' and '51031283 CD NW04 SR1 6.40 (U) Kernl MSSQL WIN x86', depending whether you want NUC or Unicode.

When I see 'info' for these DVDs, I see, for e.g. -

51031282 --> NT --> AMD64

Thanks

Hello,

Please go through the notes -

Note 1106096 - EX2 Kernels: Extended Kernel Maintenance

Note 1058988 - 640_EX2 Kernels

You can check your current kernel type by running 'disp+work -v' command at OS level via sidadm user. (on command prompt). It will tell you if the kernel variant is 640_EX2.

Thanks

hi!,

I just read that note it stated that 1106096

Limitations

The EX2 kernel delivery will be a binary only release. This means there will be no possibility to install the 640_EX2 / 46D_EX2 systems automatically during the installation / system copy process. The EX2 kernel needs to be introduced manually after completion of the installation / system copy phase.

Means i can't use EX2 kernel. is it right?

Thanks

And first did you check your current kernel variant ? Most of the confusion will be clear by itself then.

kernel make variant 640_REL

So please suggest is EX2?

Also I have download the media, media details

SAP NETWEAVER 04

Support Release 1

SAP Unicode Kernel 6.40

MS SQL Server

Windows x86_64

Number 51031283

and folder AMD64 available

C:
3670\Downloads\51031283\NT\AMD64

is it right now?

Please suggest.....

Hi Ganesh,

kernel release 640

kernel make variant 640_REL

It is not 640_EX2.

C:
3670\Downloads\51031283\NT\AMD64

is it right now?

If your current system is Non-unicode then use 51031282 otherwise if your system is UC then DVD 51031283 is OK.

Thanks

HI,

we have Unicode kernel, so DVD is 51031283 is OK.

last question is,

File name in AMD64 folder SAPEXE.SAR and SAPEXEDB.SAR

and new downloaded patch name is SAPEXE_378-20001181.SAR

and SAPEXEDB_378-20001179.SAR so any need to change the

name from SAPEXEDB_378-20001179.SAR to SAPEXDB.SAR and

SAPEXE_378-20001181.SAR to SAPEXE.SAR OR keep as it is

Please suggest.

Thanks

You have to rename them so that they have the same name as on the original DVD.

Also download IGS which is part of the independent kernel part and replace it with the new version.

Hi,

Now currently we have 6402.0.5.0 version of IGS patch on x86 sever.

we will upgrade to x64 bit and I have downloaded kernel patch is SAPEXE_378-20001181.SAR and

SAPEXEDB_378-20001179.SAR so please suggest which IGS patch need to download and in

which directory need to place.

on portal

IGS_20-20001585.SAR Installation for SAP IGS integrated in SAP Kernel 20

IGS_21-20001585.SAR Installation for SAP IGS integrated in SAP Kernel 21

IGS_22-20001585.SAR Installation for SAP IGS integrated in SAP Kernel 21

is available for SAP IGS 6.40

As posted, I have download the media 51031283 in which folder name IGS is present

C:
Downloads\51031283\*IGS*\IGS_SOFT\NT\AMD64 with file name is igs.sar so can

Place new patch in this directory and rename the file e.g from IGS_22-20001585 to igs.sar

please suggest

Thanks

Hi Ganesh,

You should simply follow homogeneous system copy method.

Use kernel dvd as per the note 1480785

Pay attention to the suggestion given by Markus.

Hi,

I have confusion about which installation set will use.

I had download the installation dump (by note 924288) is OK,

or need to download kernel (as per note 1480785) and replace

the kernel as per suggested in note 1480785)

Thanks

Ganesh

Hi Ganesh,

Installation dump downloaded using the note 924288 is OK, I agree.

Note 1480785 suggests that we should download the latest kernel and should replace the 'installation dump kernel' with this latest kernel - ultimately to created a 'modified kernel DVD'. This is also OK.

So after downloading the installation dump (which contains kernel dvd by default), you have to replace the old kernel files in that default kernel dvd with the latest kernel as per the procedure suggested by the note 1480785.

Thanks

Check Product Availability Matrix (PAM) at http://service.sap.com/pam

I see no issue with 64 bits.
