Changing Message Server port number

Former Member

Hi Gurus,

we are planning to perform message server port number change from 3602 to 3600.

Could you please let me know, what are changes that is need to be done to accomplish this.?

The only thing i Know is changing /etc/services entry by setting sapmsSID to 3600 from 3602.

Is there something else that is needed to be taken care of.

Your answers would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi John,

Go to /sapmnt/<SID>/profile and execute the following command for each instance profile with SIDADM. You will get the parameters where message server port is defined. Please update them accordingly.

grep ms <profile>

Hi John,

To change the message server port it will be affecting all profiles.

Ports or hostname are, of course, changed in the instance profile of the Central Services instance.

Go to Command prompt and execute the Profile name is <SID>_SCS00_<HOSTNAME> ( For ex: PRD_SCS00_SAPPRODUTION)

after that You need to use the ConfigTool to set values

Message server port number exists on profile directory also and i am not sure where else it exists, but i think this is not the way to change the port number. Homogeneous copy is the good way.

well.. under the profile directory... i cannot find message server port no... the only place where i found is /etc/services.

where it says.

sapmsSID 3602

Under the profile directory.. i can only find an entry of message server name which is sapmsSID.

So according to me.. just by changing the /etc/services file will work...

Any more updates on this.
