Hi,

What is the basic concept of product and Software component.I have few questions.

If our company is going for Sap implementation of ISmedia

and XI as middleware for interfacing with other systems then what do we need to do for product and SWC.

Do we need to create a third party product and SWC for this project in sld?

We can create differnt Software component under the existing Product of SAP ISM

What are the best practices

Thanks,

Naveen.

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/a2/2999ef97ea2b4790165f9ca5c05c41/frameset.htm

Do we need to create a third party product and SWC for this project in sld?

>>yea, you can create a thridparty product.

We can create differnt Software component under the existing Product of SAP ISM

>>>You can create software components for the product.

I think, the documentation will help you understand this.

Hi Krishna,

Thanks for your response.

What is the best practice in this case.

We should create third party product and SWC under that product ?

or

Create our diifernt SWC under SAP provided product i.e SAP-ISM?

Will there be any issues later if we create third party product for our project and do all developments under the SWC created under this product?

What SAP recommends?

Thanks.

Hi,

All standard SAP products and software components are shipped by SAP (SRM etc)

If you are planning to create a customer speicific components for the SAP SWCV, then create your own thridparty product based on SAP product, and then work on it. Now you can use dependency if you want make use of standard SAP delivered content.

Generally , thirdparty product is created based on the vendor and all the swcvs are created under that. Then all IR objects follow the same.

Have a look into this blog to get some hints-
